IEPPEC Adds a Focus on Policy to IEPEC
Since 2010, three conferences have been held in Europe in 2010 (Paris), 2012 (Rome) and 2014 (Berlin), and in 2016, Amsterdam with the support and encouragement of IEPEC. In 2014 the conference was turned over and run by our European sister association members. Due to the broader scope of evaluation and especially the focus on policies, the name has been changed to International Energy Policies & Programmes Evaluation Conference (IEPPEC). As with IEPEC, IEPPEC is an international and professional conference for policy makers, programme implementers, evaluators, researchers and more generally for anyone interested in evaluation issues related to energy efficiency and low carbon policies and programmes.
Our Purpose: Sharing Experiences on Evaluation Practices
The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for the presentation, critique and discussion of objective evaluations, as well as for experience sharing about evaluation practices. The conference aims at gathering new ideas, inputs for current and upcoming debates, experience feedback and lessons learnt about all the stages of evaluations (preparation, realisation, analysis of results, evaluation use).
Our International Conference in Facts & Figures
The four previous conferences in Paris (2010—125 attendees), Rome (2012—145 attendees) from nearly 25 countries. Our 2014 event in Berlin saw a marked increase in the percentage of non-North American attendees, and over 185 attendees. The participants mostly came from Europe and North America, but also from Eastern Europe, Brazil, China, Japan, Korea and South Africa. Our recent Amsterdam conference once again continued to build on our progress drawing over 175 attendees. This proves the true international dimension to the conference. In sum, these three conferences have resulted in proceedings amounting to nearly 300 new peer-reviewed papers, joining the IEPEC database of over 2000 papers.
How Does this Conference Happen?
The conference is organized by volunteers as has been the model for IEPEC since 1983. We are a registered non-profit agency located in the UK.
The conference is only possible thanks to two main types of contributions:
1. volunteers taking part in the preparation of the conference, and especially of the peer-review process and definition of the conference program (call and selection of abstracts, review of papers, moderation of sessions, etc.) ;
2. sponsors supporting the conference, so that the conference can meet high quality standards while keeping affordable fees.
